Workshop 1 of 3 Wax Carving for Lost Wax Casting (Friday 6:00-9:00pm)
There are many different ways to create a model for lost-wax casting. The term “Model” or “Master” refers to the original wax carving that will be cast in metal for a one-off (one-of-a-kind) jewelry or sculptural piece, but it also refers to the actual piece (either metal or wax) that a rubber mold can be created from, for the purpose of reproduction.
In this workshop, you will how to carve a personalized monogram, by hand in order to be cast in metal.
Workshop 2 of 3 Pre-Casting and Prep for Lost Wax Casting (Saturday 10:00am-12:00pm)
In this workshop, you will learn to Sprue Wax or other objects to cast. First, we will learn to pick the proper spruce base and flask. Next, we will learn to spruce our objects onto a spruce tree. Then we will learn to calculate our Charge prior to Investing. We will then learn to invest and prepare our work for burnout to cast the next day.
Workshop 3 of 3 Intro to Casting (Sunday 10:00am-1:00pm)
Learn to cast using the J-2rCE vacuum casting system. In this workshop, you will learn to safely and proficiently operate the J-2rCE vacuum casting machine.
